Month-end Cramming

Monday, June 30, 2008

Yes cramming has been my middle-name nowadays, I do it all the time even to my own blog…

Surprisingly busy this month has been.. every weekend was a cam-fest!  Somehow the Filipino community at work always comes up with activities (Pinas-related lagi) to keep us busy on weekends.  That and the birthdays we had to celebrate this month.  June 15th was Jun’s — we had spag-and-grill-turned-poker party at home.  Add June 3rd and 13th being Ate Mai’s and Tunz’s birthday..

The three of them threw a combined party just this Saturday in Endah villa, at Dice’s and Sir Poli’s apartment — it was a combined birthday and house-warming party.  Can’t even blog much how that went — I was crazily drunk with no sleep from work that Saturday morning prior.  We had to wake up early the next day (still in Endah villa) to catch Manny Pacquiao’s match with Diaz – it wasn’t a close fight so I had to give him credit after round 2, but that KO was a big surprise!  I thought with his build he could at least stand upto the last round haha!  ‘Nuf of that now..

And soo.. what else happened this month.. well there was the Jakarta visit — it was a 3-day, 4-night adventure.  Eight of us battled the wilderness of Indonesia’s capital — mostly of traffic jam (macet according to the cab drivers, spelling t/c of Sylvie).  Half of the time I felt like I’m in Manila, and the rest felt like a wilder, crowdier KL wth much much more active nightlife.  I like their food, the authentic batik (how I wish I have more money to buy lots of ‘em!) and thank God Sylvie saved our trip!  Thanks so much sis for the tour!  And btw, you speak their language very well that I kinda wanted to try Bahasa now.. hahaha!

Ooh and I liked the fact that when you go to Indonesia, your minimum budget for a 3-day tour could amount to as much as a million rupiah.  We were literally millionaires in Jakarta! wahaha!  But we had to be wary of spending their cash coz it was pretty confusing to use their money what with all that zeroes.  Their smallest tender is 1000 IDR, then the biggest is 100,000 (not sure if there is 500K).  A short ride in a cab could be as much as 20,000 IDR… really I had a hard time deciding when their ‘cheap’ is really cheap.

Last highlight was the Palarong Pambansa - we had this event last June 7th at the newly developed Cyberjaya Park.  After almost 4 years of adult-ish corporate wandering (read: WORK!), I had the chance to play patintero, football, agawang-base (moro-moro), chinese garter, and marami pang iba! Ang saya talaga! After the sportsfest, I had to endure a couple of days of bodyache but what the heck — it was worth it!  It felt nostalgic and weird at the same time… to play our native games in foreign land.. with foreigners watching us adults playing patintero.. hehe.

So basically that’s it,  it was a busy month.. another 4 weeks gone.  On to July, on to the 3rd quarter… i know it’ll be just as busy, so it’s gonna be another idle blog for the next few weeks.. sigh!
